We’ve received great reviews from our Chilly Chatpata Seasonings – but some of our customers felt that the Habanero Hot Salt is a bit too hot for some applications and others are looking for one that wasn’t as hot while also not wanting the smokiness that the Oregano Salt brings to the palate.
We’ve had other customers tell us that they were searching for a good jalapeno seasoning or a Mexican salt with a jalapeno base.
So since we love experimenting with anything chile-related we came up with this milder and tamer Jalapeno Seasoning. This is a perfect salt blend when you’re looking for a dash of heat and the familiar flavor that jalapenos are known for.
During the jalapeno growing season, the grower passes through the field numerous times, harvesting unripened, green jalapeÃąos for the market. As the growing season winds down the jalapeÃąos that have been left to naturally ripen turn bright red. In Mexico and in the U.S., there is a market for ripe red jalapeÃąos. The growers will also leave some on the bush for even longer so that in addition to this deep red color they will have also lost most of their moisture. These are the jalapenos that are picked to be made into chipotles. Jalapenos are added to many products during processing, including sausage, cheese, and jelly.
Use Jalapeno Salt when you’re looking for some subtle heat and saltiness on your burgers, burritos, chicken, eggs, enchiladas, homemade chicken, potatoes, pizza, rice, tacos, steak, veggies, and of course popcorn.
Hand blended with sea salt, jalapeno powder, garlic, onion, pepper, and Mexican oregano.
We also carry these top-quality seasoning salts – Garlic Salt, Celery Salt, Smoky Citrus Salt, Chipotle Salt, Onion Salt, and Habanero Hot Salt.
A word of caution – as with any chile-related seasoning we always recommend that you follow the “start with just a little” rule of thumb. The first few times that you use our Jalapeno Salt just add a few shakes until you’re comfortable with the heat level. You can always add more fiery flavor. This Jalapeno Salt comes in at about a 4-5 on the heat scale of 10.
We like to use this more as a finishing salt than a cooking salt.
We also carry an expanding selection of delightful Gourmet Salts when you looking for something a little different to spark your taste buds.
If you’re a fan of dried jalapenos then you’ll want to check out our jalapeno powder and jalapeno flakes.
